A low-income clinic in Las Vegas improperly administered the H1N1 vaccine to 21 children, but state health officials said they corrected the problem so no harm was done.

At the height of the H1N1 panic in late October, the vaccine was in short supply and was not being delivered in dosages for children under the age of 4 at the Martin Luther King Family Center, just north of the Interstate 15-U.S. 95 interchange.

Michelle Agnew, head of operations at Nevada Health Centers, the nonprofit organization that runs the clinic, said the pediatrician at the clinic decided to use half of a dose that should be used for older children — and then saved the remainder of the dosage in a syringe. The plan was to use the syringe on the same child 28 days later.

The quantity of vaccine was appropriate, but the improvised method of administering it was not, health officials said.

Nevada State Health Division officials became alarmed Nov. 6 when they had a phone conversation with staff at the center. The potentially unsafe procedure had gone on for about a week. Health officials reported three problems to the Nevada Board of Medical Examiners:

• The dosage the clinic had received was not licensed for children under age 4.

• The vaccine in the prefilled syringes did not contain a preservative, which meant it could pass bacteria to children if it was readministered.

• Reuse of syringes is not allowed because it could spread infectious diseases.

Medical board investigators went to the clinic immediately and corrected the practice. The initial dosage was the correct amount, health officials said, and the second dose was never administered. Instead, the clinic had received the appropriate dosage in individual vials by the time the children returned to the clinic.

Agnew said the flurry of activity around the H1N1 virus caused confusion in the initial distribution of the vaccine, but most of the confusion has cleared up now that the vaccine is more widely available.

Agnew, who did not name the doctor, said the medical board closed its investigation without disciplining the physician.

BEIJING, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese medical specialists announced Thursday they had developed a Chinese herbal medication to treat the A/H1N1 flu.

Seven months of scientific and clinical studies showed the remedy, called "Jin Hua Qing Gan Fang," was effective in treating A/H1N1 flu patients, said Wang Chen, president of Beijing's Chaoyang Hospital.

"It can shorten patients' fever period and improve their respiratory systems. Doctors have found no negative effects on patients who were treated in this way," he said.

"It is also very cheap, only about a quarter of the cost of Tamiflu," he said at a press conference held by the Beijing Municipal Government.

Tamiflu, a product of Swiss drugmaker Roche Holding, was recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) for the treatment of the A/H1N1 flu.

"The municipal government has gathered the most outstanding medical experts in the Chinese capital to develop the new medication," Zhao Jing, director of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, said at the press conference.

Over the past seven months, more than 120 medical specialists, led by academicians Wang Yongyan and Li Lianda from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, had participated in the research, she said.

The municipal government earmarked 10 million yuan (1.47 million U.S. dollars) for the project, she said.

"Medical experts proved the effectiveness of Jin Hua in treating A/H1N1 flu from both the basic scientific studies and clinical studies," she said.

The basic scientific studies lasted for almost five months and were conducted by experts from the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Beijing University of Technology.

"In vivo and in vitro, experiments on mice and rabbits show JinHua can bring down a fever and resist the A/H1N1 flu virus," said Huang Luqi, vice president of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.

Thursday's Beijing Daily hailed the new herbal medication as the "world's first traditional Chinese medicine to treat the A/H1N1 flu".

Citing medical officials, the paper said "Jin Hua" was picked from among more than 100 classic anti-flu prescriptions based on traditional Chinese herbal medicine.

"Science workers proved its effectiveness through medical experiments on more than 4,000 mice and clinical studies on 410 patients with slight A/H1N1 flu syndrome," it said.

The "Jin Hua" prescription had been adopted in many local traditional Chinese medicine hospitals, it said.

Zhao Jing said 11 hospitals nationwide, including Chaoyang Hospital and Ditan Hospital in Beijing, had conducted clinical studies on "Jin Hua" and gave positive assessments.

"We are applying for patents for 'Jin Hua' both at home and abroad," she shttp://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2009-12/17/content_12662674.htmaid.

"We are further developing the medicine and trying to present it to the whole country and world as soon as possible, thus offering an alternative to treat the A/H1N1 flu," she said.

The Chinese mainland has reported almost 108,000 A/H1N1 flu cases, including 442 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Cris Tunon, senior program management officer at the WHO Representative Office in China, said Thursday the "WHO welcomes the clinical results," as the traditional Chinese medicine offered a low-cost treatment of A/H1N1 flu.

1,500 rioters since Saturday. ClimateGate

Governments should take Note of the level of violence. The people were lied to.. they found out. To push for the world to send them money now is absurd! How stupid do they think people are?

http://www.bild.de/BILD/news/bild-english/world-news/2009/12/15/street-battles-in-copenhagen/violence-overshadows-un-climate-summit-as-200-rioters-arrested.html

1,500 rioters since Saturday. ClimateGate

The UN climate summit taking place in the Danish capital has been overshadowed by the violence, which saw 200 arrested overnight.

And it could get worse!

Police in Copenhagen were forced to use tear gas and water cannons to control the crowds in the so-called ‘Free State of Christiana’.

Several groups had established barricades, lit fires and thrown firebombs at the police.

Since Saturday, a total of 1,500 rioters have been taken into custody!

Christiana is a barracks compound close to the centre of Copenhagen which has been occupied since the 1970s and used as an alternative housing development. The inhabitants regard themselves as being independent of the national authorities.

The security forces – who have already come in for criticism over their tactics – will face a new challenge on Wednesday, with militant groups announcing they want to rally in the face of a ban on meeting places around the summit.

Despite the outbreak of violence, the climate summit will continue on Tuesday with new negotiations between representatives of developing countries and industrial nations.

Environment ministers from 192 states have been meeting since the beginning of the week to discuss a protection agreement to combat global warming and the temperature rise caused by greenhouse gases.

New flu resembles feared 1918 virus: study

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE56C3K120090713

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The new H1N1 influenza virus bears a disturbing resemblance to the virus strain that caused the 1918 flu pandemic, with a greater ability to infect the lungs than common seasonal flu viruses, researchers reported on Monday.

Tests in several animals confirmed other studies that have shown the new swine flu strain can spread beyond the upper respiratory tract to go deep into the lungs -- making it more likely to cause pneumonia, the international team said.

In addition, they found that people who survived the 1918 pandemic seem to have extra immune protection against the virus, again confirming the work of other researchers.

"When we conducted the experiments in ferrets and monkeys, the seasonal virus did not replicate in the lungs," said Yoshihiro Kawaoka of the University of Wisconsin, who led the study.

The H1N1 virus replicates significantly better in the lungs."

The new swine flu virus has caused the first pandemic of the 21st century, infecting more than a million people, according to estimates, and killing at least 500. The World Health Organization says it is causing mostly moderate disease but Kawaoka said that does not mean it is like seasonal flu.

"There is a misunderstanding about this virus," he said in a statement. "There is clear evidence the virus is different than seasonal influenza."

Writing in the journal Nature, Kawaoka and colleagues noted that the ability to infect the lungs is a characteristic of other pandemic viruses, especially the 1918 virus, which is estimated to have killed between 40 million and 100 million people.

Although this is an earlier in the year article, I add this to show ppl they were messing with this stuff before the pandemic. Many have said the 1918 flu is very much like this years flu.

A Kansas State University researcher has found that the virus causing the Spanish influenza pandemic in humans in 1918 was able to infect and replicate in pigs, but did not kill them, unlike in other mammalian hosts like monkeys, mice and ferrets where the infection has been lethal.

Oral Roberts dies from Pneumonia / flu complications

Pneumonia claims Oral Roberts, many flu sufferers

http://www.examiner.com/x-15966-Norfolk-Health-Care-Examiner~y2009m12d16-Pneumonia-claims-Oral-Roberts-many-flu-sufferers

This is why we are having such Trouble understanding the H1n1 infection deaths. This article says Pneumonia, as so many do. They should be saying H1N1 which resulted in severe Pneumonia.

Dec. 16--News broke yesterday that prosperity gospel and faith-healing preacher Oral Roberts died from complications of pneumonia. The 91-year-old Oklahoma native and founder of a namesake university and Pentecostal ministry had been in increasingly poor health since suffering a heart attack in 1992. He went into the hospital over the weekend after falling and breaking several bones.

Frailty made Roberts susceptible to the inflammatory lung disease that led to his finally being "called home." Physical and immune system weakness also puts millions of Americans at risk for bacterial, viral or fungal pneumonia each year. The disease is the eighth-leading cause of death in the United States.

Pneumonia usually develops secondarily, meaning most patients succumb to pneumonia after they have already battled another, milder infection or have had another major health problem. For instance, the 10,000 estimated swine flu deaths that occurred in the United States between mid-April and mid-November of this year have largely resulted from the complication of pneumonia.

CDC Recalls About 800,000 Doses Of H1N1 Vaccine

CDC Recalls About 800,000 Doses Of H1N1 Vaccine

Hundreds of thousands of doses of the H1N1/swine flu vaccine are being recalled, because they may not be effective enough to protect against the virus.

The Centers for Disease Control has issued a recall for about 800,000 doses made by Sanofi Pasteur.

http://theyeshivaworld.com/news/General+News/43400/CDC+Recalls+About+800,000+Doses+Of+H1N1+Vaccine.html

The affected vaccines are pre-filled syringes for children aged six months to almost three years old. According to the CDC, the doses were sent all over the country, and it is reaching out to providers who received to notify them not to use any of the remaining supplies.

Health officials say children who already received the dose likely will not need to be re-vaccinated. They say the lots passed potency tests when they were first shipped, but decreased later.

City health officials say they are still waiting to hear if any of the recalled doses were sent to the five boroughs.

Business is booming.. yet Sanofi Pasteur to lay off undisclosed number of workers

''We are not providing this information because we are still exploring opportunities for impacted employees to find other positions in the company,'' spokesperson Ellyn Schindler said.

The cuts will likely be made among support staff, commercial operations and the research and development areas. The company's fourth operating division — industrial operations, which includes its manufacturing functions — may see an increase in its workforce, Schindler said.

And just as people were getting used to the acronym RIF — reduction in force — a new one has been added: HCR, or head count reduction.

"One outcome is that some functions many see a decrease in headcount, although this is not the intent of these changes. In contrast, areas such as manufacturing are expected to continue to expand and will likely offset headcount reduction in other departments," a company statement said.

Sanofi became one of a handful of H1N1 swine flu vaccine makers in 2009, with orders from the U.S. Department of Health worth around $200 million. The company is in the later stages of filling those orders.

Schindler said the force reductions would be made so the company could compete better in the vaccine marketplace.

"To protect and broaden our company's impact in the marketplace we are proactively making changes intended to improve our efficiency and competitiveness in the years ahead," the company said in a written statement.

The company said it remains financially sound despite the challenging economic times. It also increased its workforce by 40 employees between 2008 and 2009. Sanofi employs more than 2,000 workers and support staff in Swiftwater.

Last week, Tobyhanna Army Depot announced it was letting 161 contract workers go in what it referred to as a force reduction that reflects reduced workloads. The reductions were primarily for electronics and industrial trade workers assigned to communications-electronics maintenance and manufacturing work at Tobyhanna.

The depot employs 1,100 contract workers among a total staff of 5,900.

The facility maintains communications-electronics systems for the U.S. military.

USA finds pandemic H1N1 virus in turkey flock
--------------------------------------------
The pandemic H1N1 flu virus was confirmed in a flock of breeder
turkeys in Virginia -- the 1st US case involving turkeys, the US
Agriculture Department said on Monday [30 Nov 2009].

The virus also has been found in hogs, 3 house cats, pet ferrets, and
a cheetah in California [presumably a zoo animal who caught it from
its keeper -- cheetahs are native to Africa. - Mod.JW]. USDA said
infections of turkeys have been reported previously in Canada and Chile.

"This is the 1st detection of 2009 pandemic H1N1 influenza in turkeys
in the United States," said a USDA spokesperson. "There is a
possibility that a worker, who was sent home ill with flu-like
symptoms, could have infected the turkeys as a result of the
artificial insemination processes, as the worker was a member of the
insemination crew."

USDA said people cannot get the flu from eating [properly cooked]
turkey meat. [Other] swine flu viruses are known to affect quails and
turkeys periodically, said USDA. USDA's Agricultural Research Service
conducted 2 studies this year to see if the H1N1 pandemic virus could
affect turkeys or other domestic fowl. 5 turkey samples collected in
mid to late November [2009] contained the virus.

seems with this disease that those companion animals that are becoming

It is notable that this is the 1st case of H1N1 in turkeys in the USA.

D225G and H274Y in Illinois Case
Recombinomics Commentary 18:13
December 13, 2009
Recent reports of increased Tamiflu resistance, coupled with a strong associate of two receptor binding domain changes, D225G and D225N, has raised concerns that the two polymorphisms may be recombining to generate a lethal H1N1 that is Tamiflu resistant. Interest in the two receptor binding domain changes was increased dramatically by results from Ukraine which had one of these changes in six of six fatal cases. The reports on D225G led France to check prior cases and D225G was found in two fatal cases. Of concern was the finding of H274Y in one of those cases.

A review of recently released sequences has found the same combination in sequences deposited by the CDC at GISAID. The isolate, A/Illinois/11/2009, was collected on July 31, which is during the same time frame as the train ride in Vietnam that led to at least seven cases of H274Y. In July/August the receptor binding domain changes were noted in fatal cases in Sao Paulo.

The increases in detection of H274Y have been reported by the WHO and CDC in recent weeks. In the US, four of ten cases were fatal, while in the Netherlands, four of eleven cases were fatal. However most of these sequences as well as those from the Vietnam train in July have not been released.

An increase in surveillance for these markers as well as the prompt release of sequences would be useful.

A Christmas Poem

I got this tonight & wanted to share. Whether you believe in thier missions or not, dont forget to believe in the Men and Women who stand between us and Chaos.

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear..
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the
sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.

Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..

To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.

No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.

I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall.."

" So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

PLEASE, would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many
people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our
U.S service men and women for our being able to celebrate these
festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people
stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us.

Edinburgh protests against the swine flu vaccination programme.

Group claims swine flu vaccine not necessary

http://news.scotsman.com/scotland/Group-claims-swine-flu-vaccine.5907416.jp

DEMONSTRATORS marched through Edinburgh yesterday to protest against the swine flu vaccination programme.
The group believes the H1N1 epidemic is not as serious as claimed and have concerns about the safety and usefulness of the vaccine.

About 80 people marched along the Royal Mile from St Giles' Cathedral to the Parliament.

Organiser Claire Knox said they hoped the protest would encourage people to think twice about getting the vaccine.

She believes figures for the numbers of people suffering swine flu are not accurate and questioned the necessity for vaccination.

She said: "We're not sure there is a pandemic as it seems the numbers are exaggerated. It appears swine flu is very mild and there are very few cases and I would like to know why they are trying to enforce this vaccination campaign on us.

"The vaccine has not gone through full length testing so there are safety concerns. We just want to highlight the discrepancies and manipulation of numbers so people question whether they need the vaccine."

Poland balks at swine flu vaccine

Poland distrustful of swine flu vaccination

WARSAW, Poland (AP) – Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Friday that his government won’t buy vaccines for swine flu that have not been properly tested or from producers who won’t take responsibility for possible side effects.

Tusk told reporters that vaccine producers were pressuring governments to buy, but were also demanding that all responsibility and compensation for possible negative side effects fall upon government shoulders.

“Today we are dealing with great pressure from pharmaceutical firms … we are dealing with expectations that hundreds of millions of zlotys (dollars) will be spent on vaccine while no one wants to guarantee that it has no side effects,” he said.

This is most likely why Poland refuses vaccine:

Homeless people die after bird flu vaccine trial in Poland

Three Polish doctors and six nurses are facing criminal prosecution after a number of homeless people died following medical trials for a vaccine to the H5N1 bird-flu virus.

21 people died after being given the vaccine The medical staff, from the northern town of Grudziadz, are being investigated over medical trials on as many as 350 homeless and poor people last year, which prosecutors say involved an untried vaccine to the highly-contagious virus.

Authorities claim that the alleged victims received £1-2 to be tested with what they thought was a conventional flu vaccine but, according to investigators, was actually an anti bird-flu drug.

Waclawski, told a Polish newspaper that last year, 21 people from his centre died, a figure well above the average of about eight.

Swine flu update: H1N1 flu activity down, H1N1 flu-associated deaths up-Is H1N1 getting more deadly?

http://www.examiner.com/x-29228-LA-Health-Technology-Examiner~y2009m12d13-Swine-flu-update-H1N1-flu-activity-downH1N1-fluassociated-deaths-up-Is-H1N1-getting-more-deadly

The latest U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) swine flu update shows that H1N1 flu activity is decreasing once more, for the 6th week in a row. H1N1 swine flu-associated deaths, however, are going up. At the same time, reports of an H1N1 mutation that attacks the lungs and is resistant to the antiviral medication Tamiflu are circulating here in the U.S., as well as other locations around the world.

CDC swine flu update

According to the CDC swine flu update for December 11, 2009, key flu indicators are all decreasing, except for H1N1 flu-related deaths. Doctor's visits for flu and hospitalizations for flu have gone down for the 6th week in a row, and there are now only 14 states reporting widespread flu activity. At the same time, swine flu-related deaths have increased. This may result from the spread of a deadlier strain of H1N1 mutation that attacks the lungs and is resistant to the antiviral medication Tamiflu.

Mutations H1N1 update - Washington State Death

I am finding it very difficult to find states reporting the mutation that resembles the spanish flu and or Pneumonic plague. Unless I search every state with a variety of phrases, it is impossible to keep up. If you hear of a case in your state, please email me. I will keep searching , but the lack of information on this makes it very difficult.

We know that the mutations hit approx 2 weeks ago in NC and began spreading. We know that the people dying are usually dying of complications but the doctors dont seem to want to specify what type of complications. Once in awhile, they will admit to wet, bleeding lungs. Unfortunately the silence of the media puts us all at risk.

3 days ago a little girl age 4 died in Bremerton which is NW United states. As in so many cases, they didnt say what the complications were, but as we have seen signs of this strain in California, I am sure it is up in Washington as well.

The good news is that the rate of infection is down. Way down. The bad news is, that we now have a definate mutation in the states and round three may be more dangerous.

“What we have here is a little girl that died unexpectedly and had a positive test” for H1N1, Lindquist said.

She was only sick for a couple days, Health District officials said. Her family is asking for privacy as they grieve.

The 4-year-old attended Sylvan Way Christian School, Lindquist said. The Health District does not plan to ask the school to take any extra precautions as a result of the death.

Study: Plant-based antioxidants protect lungs from H1N1

Study: Plant-based antioxidants protect lungs from H1N1

While immunization may be the best defense against swine flu, a new study shows that antioxidants in certain foods may also protect against H1N1 and help prevent lung damage from the virus.
With shortages of H1N1 vaccine being reported worldwide, some people have been resorting to folk remedies to ward off the dreaded virus.
The rush for protection from H1N1 has even led to shortages and higher prices for foods such as garlic, onions, and others.
According to researchers at the University of Alabama, consumers of those foods that are rich in antioxidants actually do add an extra layer of protection, reports FoodConsumer.
Researcher Sadis Matalon and colleagues found the cause of damage to our lungs when we get the flu was caused by M2 protein, which attacks the cells that line the inner surfaces of the lungs, says the study published in the FASEB Journal and the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology.
The M2 protein damages the lung cells so they cannot remove liquid that builds up inside the lungs, making the person infected more susceptible to pneumonia and other lung problems.
The research discovered cells that were pretreated with glutathione ester, an antioxidant that is available as a dietary supplement, prevented the damaging effects of M2 protein to lung cells.
The study says that when our consumption of sulphur rich foods is sufficient there is no need to take a supplement as our bodies naturally synthesize the glutathione compound when nourished properly.
Some sulphur-rich foods that are readily available are garlic, onions, broccoli, oats, corn, legumes, nuts, seeds and many others.
The study says that meat eaters should also consider eating red meats, eggs, whey protein, and dairy products, reports FoodConsumer.
Due to its recommendation as an "anti-virus" plant by international medical experts, the price of garlic has soared in China giving farmers a boost, reports China Daily. The price of garlic last year was 0.08 yuan per kilogram but is now selling at 8 juan ($1.17) per kilogram.
Vendors at outdoor markets in Ukraine are also cashing in on the hysteria, by hiking prices for onions, garlic and fresh fruits as face masks and flu vaccine were in short supply or completely gone, reports The Cutting Edge.

H1N1 flu causes unusual damage to lungs: studies

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE59E5D220091015

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The new pandemic H1N1 flu may cause blood clots and other unusual damage in the lungs and doctors need to be on the lookout, U.S. researchers reported on Thursday.

One middle-aged man who died was not diagnosed until after death, but unusual findings on his X-rays may be able to help doctors save other, similar patients.

Mollura's team found irregularities called ground-glass opacities in the patient's lungs using a CT scan. Although the patient was severely ill and had a fever, he tested negative for flu and doctors did not treat him for it.

The man died five days after he went into the hospital and the autopsy confirmed he had swine flu. The lung lesions seen on his CT scan matched lung damage done by the virus, Mollura and colleagues said.

In another study in the same journal, CT scans of patients with severe cases of swine flu showed many had pulmonary emboli, which block the arteries in the lungs, a team at the University of Michigan found.

Anticoagulant drugs can break up these clots and save lives.

Dogs , Monkeys infect them , kill them, stick it in your arm

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE5746VY20090805

The swine flu vaccine, to be sold under the brand name Celvapan, is made using Baxter's cell culture process, which is designed to be faster than traditional vaccine production methods

Baxter shares 4 patents for African Green Monkey vaccine  production with a company called Dyncorp.
Do a google on Dyncorp. I dont want to get into conspiracy theories here, but its an incredibly interesting read.

And, when someone tells you they dont eat meat or goes on about animal cruelty and are pro vaccine, you may want to inform them they are participating blindly in the very thing they stand against. Information is key folks. We can blindly walk around and accept things, or we can demand a certain standard and accountability in our medicine.

Forgive me for the following photo of an abused dog.. but how is it any different? God help us if
we think this is ok.

Dog Cells for Vaccine? Hell NO!

When I saw this new production facility open, I didn't think much of it. They are talking about using Dogs here to grow their virus and harvest what is needed. Baxter currently does this with African Green Monkeys. they infect the monkeys, and harvest the organs because it is faster than growing it in an egg.

I love Dogs. I am also a realist. If dogs were the one and only way to save the human race, It may be worth considering, but WE KNOW that isnt so. I would assume that harvesting dogs cells would mean you need to infect the dogs. Kill the dogs? This is way beyond acceptable.

I read an article from one of the leading virologists who declared that working with monkeys as he did and creating vaccines from thier infected organs caused many other problems because its not just the virus you are adding into the vaccine fromt the organ but other diseases the Monkey is carrying as well. I will try to find this piece.. it was a utube vid where he pretty much said he felt he was to blame in a round about way for aids (HIV). He felt the Monkeys carried it and it was accidentally put into the vaccines.

The Monkeys are bad enough. Infecting animals is not the best idea in the world. Not just for those who love animals , but for those who have a sense of self preservation. I do not want to be exposed to the various Monkey diseases.. dog diseases. What are these people thinking? And at the end of the day, Dog is Mans best friend. I don't believe this will go over very well. We have other means, we do not need to go here.

Soldiers get mass swine flu shots before holidays

FORT JACKSON, S.C. — Thousands of Army recruits in training must line up at least once more before heading home for the holidays, this time for mass inoculations by the hundreds against swine flu.

The Army's largest training camp, just outside Columbia, S.C., and other posts are hurrying to finish the shots before the year-end break. More than 40,000 soldiers in advanced and basic training across the country head home over the next two weeks in a massive troop movement known as "block leave," Army officials said.

"We have been very aggressive in trying to assure the safety of our soldiers," said Maj. Soo Hee Kim-Delio, the Army physician in charge of the inoculations at Fort Jackson. "Our basic training population is at particularly high risk."
